Hungry Eagle

This is something you definitely don't see every day an Eagle attacking a swan. Not sure why an Eagle would try and take out a swan maybe because he's hungry or it is a territory thing. Either way check out these amazing photos I received in an email a while back.

That swan looks to be bigger than the Eagle

Not looking so well for the swan

never a good position when your in the air

He got away

Lucky swan I wonder if the Eagle learned his lesson?

My guess it was a hungry Eagle and animals will do strange things when they are hungry like go after a slow flying Swan that is bigger than them. Lucky for this swan he was a bit too big for the Eagle to handle.
What do you think?

  2. I hope the swan was unscathed, but I kinda doubt it. Pretty amazing.

  4. I've come into contact with some pretty nasty swans at local lakes. They can be down right agressive. I would say that the swan probably gave as good as it got.

  6. Really good photo scenario there. I am an Eagle lover, but, that is one time when I was pulling for the Swan. Hope both will have better days.

  7. Those are great pictures and you won't see something like that happen very often. The photographer was at the right spot at the right time.

  9. its a territory thing.there is no chance a bald eagle take down a swan..usualy eagles keep a safe distance from swans...swans are known to be very agressive.when i was a kid i saw a video of a swan completely distroying a gold eagle, who tried to attack his cygnets..that fighting will be always in my mind..you have no idea what those beatiful white birds are capable to do.
