One or the Biggest Grizzly Bears I've ever seen. Here is an email I received from my Dad. Not sure if the story is correct or the bear is really that big? Isn't it more fun when you have to guess?
Any way here is how the story reads in the email.
Big Bear shot Saddle Hills Alberta, Sept 20, 2010
These two gents were calling elk in the Saddle Hills south of Working, Alberta when this big
guy slipped in on the caller. The Shooter spotted the bear about 8 yards from the caller and
dropped him with 5 shots out of his 338 Rem Mag.
Farmers in the area knew about the bear but weren't able to track after it had killed 3 horses,
5 cows, 13 sheep and a pen full of chickens on several different homesteads in the area.
Fish and wildlife had bear traps set up in the area but noticed on surveillance video that whenever
he would enter one his hump would hit the top of the culvert trap slowing him enough that the trap
door would whack him on the head before he was all the way in the reap.
Check out the scar tissue on his face... Bear weighed in just under 1300 pounds and would have

And now the Pics of one of the Biggest Grizzly Bears I've ever seen
He is just huge |
Look at the size of that paw |
He looks mean too! |
I can't get over the size of that paw and those claws man |
If you look close you can see the scar on his nose from where the trap door hit him |
So what do you think is he one of the biggest grizzly bears you've ever seen or is it just good camera work? In your opinion is the story real? Maybe you know the real story let us know.
I saw this story once before. I think it's real. Five shots from a 338 Rem Mag, I think I'd be carrying a bigger gun in that area.

Any way you slice it, it's a HUGE bear. It's not like a fishing pic where someone holds the fish out towards the camera to make it look bigger. If it's a fake, it's an impressive one.
ReplyDeleteDang those nails hurt just lookin' at 'em. He's a huge one for sure!
ReplyDeleteI doubt the location claimed of the kill. Alberta suspended Grizzly Hunting Seasons in 2006 due to a decline in the population. Where ever it was killed that is one big bear.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like they shot the bear in self defense. It was 8 yards from the caller, and they were there to hunt elk, not grizzly.
DeleteOfficials had been making an effort to get the bear anyway, since it was killing livestock.
It's a kodiak from Alaska. Google a few of the details and you'll find a number of stories reporting this from Alberta (where we haven't had a grizz hunt for years) and correctly pointing to the Alaska guide service that actually took the monster.

So the consensus is that it's real? Wow.
ReplyDeleteAn Alaskan Guiding service actually took this Bear in from the coast of the Alaskan Archaepeligo.
ReplyDeleteGrizzly in Alberta rarely make more than 500lbs, so the piece has to be a made up.
However the Bear was not photoshopped but real, bottoming out a 1300lb weighing scale, he even have been 1500lb
The Hunters were not hunting Bear at the time ,it was an Elk hunt as My Email said.I would have to think the kill was selfpreservation... Much to close in any case if I was hunting Elk. Like all Internet make up your own mind as to the story, DAM big BEAR....
ReplyDeleteI am very fond of bears. I have a huge collection of different bear photographs. This one here is huge! Good post!
